Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Uptime Checker ("we", "our", "the service") runs an uptime-monitoring service from the Cloudflare edge. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the limited ways it is used. We operate a small, privacy-conscious service: we do not sell personal data, and we retain the minimum needed to run monitoring and billing.
1. Data we collect
- Account data. When you register, we store your name, email address, and a PBKDF2 password hash. We never store plaintext passwords.
- Monitoring targets. The URLs and names of the endpoints you ask us to monitor, plus the check history (status, latency, region, failure reason) those checks produce.
- Billing data. If you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles card details; we store only the resulting customer identifier and your plan. We do not see or store card numbers.
- Technical data. Standard web server logs and edge telemetry (IP address, user agent, request timing) used for security, rate limiting, and operation of the service.
2. How we use data
- To operate monitoring: run checks, store history, and send alert emails to the address you registered with when a monitored site goes down or recovers.
- To administer your account and plan, and to process payments via Stripe.
- To keep the service secure and available: rate limiting, abuse prevention, and diagnosing outages.
3. Data sharing
We share data only with the sub-processors required to run the service: Cloudflare (hosting, edge checks, email sending) and Stripe (payments). We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share monitoring data with any third party for marketing purposes.
4. Data retention
- Check and alert history is pruned automatically after 90 days.
- Account data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us; deletion removes your account, endpoints, and history.
5. Security
Passwords are stored as salted PBKDF2 hashes. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Access to account-scoped data is enforced per tenant, and administrative actions are limited to the platform owner.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable period.
7. Cookies
The service stores a session token in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above; continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
